Fall Fest Celebrated at Daemen

An estimated 80 people in total attended the first-ever Fall Fest hosted by the Honors Program here at Daemen University on Oct. 25. The event included a costume contest, food, a pumpkin painting station, and more.

“It was such a fun way to celebrate autumn and the fun leaves,” Abigail Christopher, a second-year PA graduate student said. “Lots of friends, cool decorations, and great activities.”

This was the first time the Honors Program has ran Fall Fest.

“I facilitated the majority of the planning along with the other members on the Honors board such as Madison Rowe, Bradyn Winters, Mitchell Gsell, Cassie Cook, and Gina Fruci,” senior psychology major and Honors Program President, Rachel Keenan said. “I made flyers, decorated, contacted the Daemen Wildcat Media Team, and worked with my other officers to make sure all bases were covered regarding food, reserving space, games, and getting clearance.”

With the success of this event, the Honors program is looking forward, and discussion of making this an annual event is underway.

“Dr. Law [the Honors Program Advisor] and I are in agreement that Fall Fest may become an annual tradition around Halloween time,” Keenan said. “I feel that the event went very well considering it was the first event of its magnitude that the Honors Program hosted.”

Currently, the only other event that is a staple of the Honors Program is the traditionally annual Honors Symposium, where students present their honors contracts.

In the upcoming years, this is going to be a new staple for the Honors Program, as we are in the stages of rebuilding the program, as it was defamed and fell [due to COVID],”  sophomore biochemistry (pre-med) major and Honors Program Vice President, Bradyn Winters said. “So we are trying to put together larger events that we can have set up for each year.”
