On Sept. 22, the Student Activities Team and Founders Day Committee welcomed NY Goat Yoga to campus. The event took place on the YSC back lawn during the lunch break. The event had a strong turnout with over 100 students attending.
“I loved this event,” Avery Lee, a junior history major, said. “My friends and I went and we all really had a lot of fun de-stressing from everyone with goats on our backs!”

Two goats walk across students’ backs. The first goat is white with a small cowboy hat and bandana around its neck. The second goat has mottled brown and white fur. It is following the first goat.
The event was originally meant to be a part of the Week of Welcome but was moved due to scheduling issues.
“We decided to pivot to Founders Week,” Director of Student Center Operations, Dominic Hannon, said. “I hold a regional leadership position with ACUI Region VII, and NY Goat Yoga was one of the sponsors of our conference last year; after seeing what the organization had to offer, I knew that it was a natural fit for our students… something that I knew our student population would enjoy.”

Junior social work major Kara Gioia pets a black-and-white goat wearing a small red cowboy hat. In the background, senior criminal justice major Xachary Szewczyk lies on a yoga mat with a white goat standing on his back.

“It was very fun; everyone was laughing the whole time. Very giggly,” said Laine Rabideau, a junior animation major. “A goat stood on my head at one point and I had pigtails. He messed up my hair, but he was cute, so I forgave him.”

Due to positive feedback from the event, the campus is open to welcoming back their furry friends.
“It seemed well-received and students seemed to enjoy it, so I would definitely be interested in bringing them back!” Hannon said.
