As the Fall 2025 semester comes to its conclusion, it’s important to reflect on its many successes…and many failures. While there are multiple open parking lots on campus, there’s still a lot of confusion over where people are allowed to park, leading to countless parking violations that are not only illegal under New York State Vehicle and Traffic law and Daemen University Policy, but also incredibly dangerous for staff and students alike.
It’s important, especially as winter approaches, to follow the campus rules to foster a safe environment for students and staff to walk and commute safely.

A red car (left) and a black car (right) side by side. The red car’s back wheels are over the white line and its side is barely grazing the other car. Though not explicitly against any laws, this maneuver is incredibly dangerous and likely to lead to an accident upon pulling out of the spot.

Someone is exiting a silver car located in the middle of the pedestrian walkway. To the left of them is a sign that reads “Pedestrian Walkway” and “Emergency Vehicles Only.” This violates campus parking rule 9, VAT codes 1110-a and 1225-a.

A black car is parked in a no-parking zone, marked by diagonal white lines on the pavement over the space. This is in violation of campus parking rule 4 and VAT code 1110-a.

A red car is parked in the grass directly next to an open Daemen University parking lot. This is a violation of campus parking rules 4 and 9.

A grey car is parked with its front half blocking the Daemen University main entrance. It remained there for three days. This is in violation of campus parking rule 12 and VAT code 1202.

A grey car is parked in the middle of the grass and a paved pathway that leads out of campus. This is in violation of campus parking rules 4, 9 and 12 as well as VAT code 1202.

The back wheel of a black car is parked on top of a crosswalk, blocking the way for pedestrians. This is in violation of campus parking rule 4 and VAT code section 1202.

A black car is parked outside of white traffic lines. Its right side is partially blocking the roadway that runs through Daemen University. This is in violation of campus rules 4 and 12 as well as VAT code 1202.

A grey car with no front license plate is parked in front of a sign that reads “No parking, fire lane.” The car is also parked in an area with no white parking lines. This is in violation of campus rule 4 as well as VAT laws 1110-a and 4021-a.
